How it works

From photos to file in about 2–3 min

Upload a photo, then wait while 2 AI steps run. Nothing to set up.

  1. 1
    You
    You add a photo

1–5 photos of the same person, pet or couple

  2. Image Studio2
    AI
    AI redraws your picture

Image Studio (GPT Image 2.5 Flare) receives your photos plus a prompt that locks the identity, reconstructs the full body, adds a round base and isolates everything on white. 3D models come out far better from a clean, frontal, full-body image than from a casual photo.

  3. Image to 3D3
    AI
    AI builds it in 3D

Image to 3D (Prism 3.1) reconstructs geometry and texture from the figurine image. The template uses Fast textures and Standard mesh quality, which is plenty for a printed figure.

  4. STL 3MF OBJ

Print it at home

Any FDM or resin printer works. Open the file in your slicer and press print.

No printer? Order it

Upload the STL to an online print service or a local print shop and get it delivered.

Give it as a gift

Birthdays, weddings, a thank-you for a teacher. Nobody else will have the same one.

Paint it

Print in grey and paint it, or print in colour if your printer can.

Behind the scenes

How this template works

Image Studio redraws your photo as a clean, full-body figurine render, then Image to 3D turns that render into a textured 3D model. You can also use both tools on their own.

  1. 1
    Step 1 · Image Studio

    Prepare your photo

Image Studio (GPT Image 2.5 Flare) receives your photos plus a prompt that locks the identity, reconstructs the full body, adds a round base and isolates everything on white. 3D models come out far better from a clean, frontal, full-body image than from a casual photo.

GPT Image 2.5 Flare · low quality

    Open Image Studio
  2. 2
    Step 2 · Image to 3D

    Build the 3D model

Image to 3D (Prism 3.1) reconstructs geometry and texture from the figurine image. The template uses Fast textures and Standard mesh quality, which is plenty for a printed figure.

Prism 3.1 · Fast textures · Standard mesh

    Open Image to 3D

Do it yourself for more control

  • Change the style in the Image Studio prompt: bronze, marble, anime, or your own idea.
  • Use Detailed textures and Ultra mesh in Image to 3D for sharper faces and folds.
  • Run Add Base for a custom plinth, and Print Repair to make the mesh watertight before slicing.

What is 3D AI Studio?

3D AI Studio is a web app that makes 3D models, images and sounds with AI. It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install.

A template is a saved recipe. It runs a fixed set of AI tools with settings we've already tested, so all you add is a photo or a sentence.

StylizedDefault

a premium designer vinyl collectible toy. Proportions: the head is about one third of the total height, slightly larger hands and feet, a compact body. Everything is simplified into soft, rounded, smooth shapes with no fine texture: hair as a few big sculpted chunks, clothing as clean simple shapes with only the main folds. Face: simple glossy painted eyes with a small white highlight, a small simple nose, a clean friendly smile. Flat, clean, slightly saturated colours taken from the outfit, smooth semi-gloss vinyl finish. Base: a plain round glossy white base.

Realistic

a premium hand-painted collectible resin statue at true-to-life proportions. The face is sculpted and hand-painted with natural skin tones and soft painted shading (painted, never photographic). Hair is sculpted into defined locks and strands, clothing has crisp sculpted folds, seams and fabric texture. Natural colours matching the photos, matte painted finish with subtle satin highlights. Base: a plain round matte black plinth.

Chibi

an extremely cute super-deformed chibi figure. Proportions: about 2.5 heads tall, the head as large as the whole body (around 45% of the total height), a tiny rounded body, very short stubby arms and legs, small round mitten-like hands and small rounded shoes or paws. Face: huge round sparkling eyes filling about a third of the face with big glossy highlights, a tiny dot nose, a small happy mouth and soft rosy blush on the cheeks. Hair in big, soft, rounded chunks that keep the hairstyle and colour. Clothing simplified to its main shapes and colours with no small details or wrinkles. Bright, clean, slightly pastel colours, smooth soft matte PVC finish, kawaii and adorable like a premium anime collectible. Base: a plain round pastel-coloured base.

Bronze

a classical lost-wax cast bronze statuette at true-to-life proportions. Every surface (skin, hair, eyes, clothing and base) is the same solid bronze metal: deep warm brown bronze with a darker patina in the recesses and polished golden highlights on raised edges such as the nose, cheekbones, knuckles and fold ridges. The eyes are sculpted in the metal, not painted. Confident sculpted modelling of hair and clothing folds. No paint and no other colours anywhere. Base: a round bronze plinth in the same metal.

Marble

a classical white Carrara marble statue at true-to-life proportions, carved from one single block. Every surface (skin, hair, eyes, clothing and base) is the same polished white marble with faint soft grey veining, slightly translucent. The eyes are carved blank like classical statues, hair is carved into flowing sculpted locks, clothing into smooth drapery folds. No paint and no colour at all. Base: a round marble plinth carved from the same block.

Low-poly

a low-poly faceted art figurine. Proportions simplified, the head slightly larger than real (about one quarter of the total height). Every surface (face, hair, clothing and base) is built from large flat triangular facets with crisp sharp edges, a few hundred facets in total, no smooth surfaces and no fine texture. The face is faceted exactly like the body: cheeks, forehead, nose and chin are a handful of large flat planes, the eyes, eyebrows and mouth are simple flat painted shapes, no realistic eyes, no lashes, no smooth skin. Each facet is one flat colour taken from the subject's palette, with clean flat shading and a matte finish. Base: a faceted low-poly round base.

Which photo to use

A photo like this works
  • One clearly visible subject works best; crop out other people if you can.
  • A full-body photo helps, but a selfie is fine: the pose and body are reconstructed.
  • Daylight beats flash: even light keeps colours true.

Good to know: Very thin parts (loose hair strands, glasses frames) can come out thick or merged; that's normal for printable figures.

Chat brief · Photo to Figurine
Use the 3D AI Studio MCP to run the "Photo to Figurine" template (https://www.3daistudio.com/templates/3d-figurine-from-photo) for me.

My photo(s): I'll hand them over when you call upload_image.
Subject: Person
Style: Stylized
Base: Classic
Pose: Original

Follow these steps in order. The prompts and settings are the template's own, so use them word for word.

1. Get my photos
Call upload_image with purpose "Photo for the Photo to Figurine template" so I can hand them over (images attached in the chat don't reach the MCP). I can upload up to 5 photos of the same subject; use all of them.

2. Prepare my photo
Call edit_image_gpt with my uploaded photo(s) in images, quality "low", output_format "png" and this prompt:
"""
The reference photo(s) show one person; that person is the subject. Keep them instantly recognisable through what identifies them: face shape, eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and smile, hairstyle and hair colour, skin tone, glasses, beard or freckles, and their outfit with its colours and patterns. Their real body proportions do NOT carry over: head size, body, arms and legs follow the style below exactly, even where that is far from the photo. Do NOT copy the face from the photo: re-create the whole head, face, hair and neck from scratch in exactly the same style, material, level of detail, lighting and colour grading as the rest of the character, as if one artist made the entire character at once. The head sits naturally on the body at the character's proportions, with no photographic skin texture, no photo lighting, no visible seam, edge or colour shift at the neck, and no head that looks pasted on. If several photos are provided they all show the same subject from different angles or moments: merge them into ONE consistent figure and pick the clearest features. The photos may be cropped or show only the face or upper body: reconstruct the COMPLETE body anyway, from the top of the head to the feet or paws, including legs, feet, shoes, tail and all limbs, complete and believable at the proportions of the requested style, matching everything visible. Never crop, cut off or hide any part of the body, never show a bust or half figure, and do not leave anything outside the frame. Style: a premium designer vinyl collectible toy. Pose: cheerful standing pose, hands on hips. Transform the subject into a single collectible figurine: the entire figure visible from head to toe with generous empty margin above the head and below the base, standing upright on a small, plain, round, flat base, perfectly centered, facing the camera straight-on in a frontal full-body view, with balanced margins on all sides and nothing cropped. Chunky, sturdy proportions with no thin fragile parts. Even, soft studio lighting with no harsh shadows. Isolate cleanly on a flat, seamless, pure white (#FFFFFF) studio background: no other objects, people, props, text, logos or shadows on the background, and clean accurate edges without halos. A sharp, clean product render of the physical figure. Most important: the whole figure, head and face included, is unmistakably in the stylized look described above, as one consistent physical object, with no photographic part.
"""

3. Build the 3D model
Call generate_prism_3_1 with the task_id of the image from step 2 in images, texture_model "3.5", texture_quality "fast", geometry_quality "standard", pbr false.

4. Export
Export it for printing: call convert_model on the 3D model with output_format "3mf" (or "stl" if I ask for it), plus max_size and unit "cm" if I gave you a print size.

After each generation call, keep polling get_generation with its task_id until it completes, then show me the result with show_generation before you start the next step.

Or automate it with the API

The same tools are available through the 3D AI Studio API. Call them from your own code to make hundreds at once, build them into your app or run them in your pipeline.
