Behind the scenes

How this template works

Image Studio draws your character three times (front, side and back) at the same scale and on one ground line. That's the reference a modeller or animator wants before starting.

    Step 1 · Image Studio

    Draw the turnaround

Image Studio draws matching front, side and back views in a neutral A-pose, with the same outfit and proportions in each, on a plain background.

Tips for the best result

  • Describe the outfit from head to toe; the back view needs to know what's there.
  • Upload concept art to keep an existing design.
  • One character per sheet; groups come out inconsistent.

Do it yourself for more control

  • Crop the front and side views onto image planes in Blender and model over them.
  • Feed the front view into the Game Character templates or Image to 3D for a quick 3D blockout.
  • Hand the sheet to an artist or animator as the character's model sheet.

Good to know

The views are drawn, not measured: proportions match closely but aren't orthographically exact, so check them before precise modelling.

Use the 3D AI Studio MCP to run the "Character Turnaround Sheet" template (https://www.3daistudio.com/templates/character-turnaround-sheet) for me.

My idea: A desert scavenger girl with goggles and a patched cloak
Style: Stylized 3D
Pose: A-pose

Follow these steps in order. The prompts and settings are the template's own, so use them word for word and only put my idea where it says {MY IDEA}.

1. Draw the turnaround
Call generate_image_nano_2_1 with aspect_ratio "16:9", resolution "1K", output_format "png" and this prompt:
"""
Character: {MY IDEA}. Style: stylized 3D game character like a modern indie action game, clean shapes and readable colours. A clean character turnaround reference sheet for 3D modelling and animation: the same character shown three times side by side at the same scale and height, a front view, a side view facing right and a back view, all in the same neutral A-pose and aligned on one ground line, full body from head to feet in every view, identical outfit, colours and proportions in all three views, even flat lighting. No text, no labels, no arrows, no props on the ground. Plain light grey (#E6E6E6) background.
"""
If I want to start from a sketch or reference image instead, call upload_image so I can hand it over, then call edit_image_gpt with the upload in images, quality "low", output_format "png" and this prompt (the result keeps my image's proportions):
"""
The reference image shows a character (a sketch, concept art or a render). Keep its design, outfit, colours and proportions exactly and draw it as a turnaround sheet, ignoring any notes, arrows and paper.

After each generation call, keep polling get_generation with its task_id until it completes, then show me the result with show_generation before you start the next step.

Or automate it with the API
