Behind the scenes

How this template works

The ornament template redraws your subject as a compact, chunky figure with a hanging loop and festive details, then builds it in 3D.

  1. 1
    Step 1 · Image Studio

    Design the ornament

Image Studio keeps the subject recognisable, adds the seasonal details and a closed ring loop on top, and keeps everything thick enough to print small.

  2. 2
    Step 2 · Image to 3D

    Build the 3D model

Image to 3D (Prism 3.1) builds the ornament from the design.

Tips for the best result

  • Pets and kids make the cutest ornaments.
  • Close-up photos with a clear face work best.
  • Print with a small brim; ornaments have small bases.

Do it yourself for more control

  • Change the decoration in the Image Studio prompt: reindeer antlers, a party hat, a crown.
  • Scale to 6–8 cm in Print Export and check the loop is at least 2 mm thick.

Good to know

The hanging loop is part of the design; if it comes out thin, drill or glue on a metal hook instead.

Chat brief · Holiday Ornament
Use the 3D AI Studio MCP to run the "Holiday Ornament" template (https://www.3daistudio.com/templates/christmas-ornament-3d-print) for me.

My photo(s): I'll hand them over when you call upload_image.
Style: Christmas
Shape: Little figure

Follow these steps in order. The prompts and settings are the template's own, so use them word for word.

1. Get my photos
Call upload_image with purpose "Photo for the Holiday Ornament template" so I can hand them over (images attached in the chat don't reach the MCP). I can upload up to 3 photos of the same subject; use all of them.

2. Design the ornament
Call edit_image_gpt with my uploaded photo(s) in images, quality "low", output_format "png" and this prompt:
"""
The reference photo(s) show the subject: a person or any kind of pet. Keep it instantly recognisable. A person keeps their face shape, hairstyle, hair colour, glasses or beard. An animal keeps its species, head and ear shape, eye colour and its exact colours and markings, each in the same place as in the photo(s), including marks on only one side, with nothing added, moved, mirrored or left out. Only clear markings count: faint or light-catching hairs take the colour around them. Real proportions and photo detail do not carry over: re-create the whole subject in the style below. Style: a cute painted ornament figurine with a smooth satin finish, like a collectible vinyl toy. A big round head, a small rounded body and short stubby limbs. Simple painted eyes, a small nose and a small smile. Hair, fur or feathers as a few smooth, simple sculpted shapes in clean solid colours. Festive details: a red Santa hat with white trim and a small cosy scarf. Transform the subject into a small hanging tree ornament figurine: compact, rounded and chunky with no thin fragile parts, sitting on a small round flat base, with a sturdy closed ring loop for hanging attached to the very top. The entire ornament visible, centered, frontal view, with generous empty margin. Isolated on a seamless pure white (#FFFFFF) background, soft even studio lighting, no shadows on the background, no text. Most important: the whole figure, head and face included, is a cute painted tree ornament like a collectible vinyl toy, as one consistent physical object made by one artist. The face must not look like a photo or a realistic photographed face: it is re-created in exactly the same style, level of detail, finish and colours as the rest, with no photographic part anywhere. Before finishing, compare the colours and markings with the photo(s) once more. Light and surfaces: soft, even, diffuse studio light from the front, and at most a soft satin sheen: no mirror-like gloss, no bright white hot spots or glare, and no reflections of lights, windows or surroundings.
"""

3. Build the 3D model
Call generate_prism_3_1 with the task_id of the image from step 2 in images, texture_model "3.5", texture_quality "fast", geometry_quality "standard", pbr false, lighting_removal false.

4. Export
Export it for printing: call convert_model on the 3D model with output_format "3mf" (or "stl" if I ask for it), plus max_size and unit "cm" if I gave you a print size.

After each generation call, keep polling get_generation with its task_id until it completes, then show me the result with show_generation before you start the next step.

Or automate it with the API

The same tools are available through the 3D AI Studio API. Call them from your own code to make hundreds at once, build them into your app or run them in your pipeline.
